Hi there,
I’m Kristen!
Hi there,
I’m Kristen!
Hi there,
I’m Kristen!
I am honoured to be here with you, as I too have lived experiences of trauma and understand the complexities of navigating systems of healing. My own healing journey led me to work with a passion for welcoming you here as you are.
I am someone who enjoys having fun and connecting with others. My therapy style is authentic, down-to-earth, and often involves humour. I’m an open therapist who wants to assist guiding you through what led you to therapy.
My approach to practice is intersectional, holistic and eclectic, meaning I draw from many perspectives while working in a client-centred, trauma-informed and collaborative way. I have been providing safe and collaborative spaces to individuals for over 9 years within various capacities such as child well-being and gender-based violence.
CREDENTIALS
I am a Registered Social Worker with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers. I obtained my Master of Social Work at the University of Windsor, and my Bachelor of Social Work at Trent University, with a double major in Indigenous and Gender Studies. Some of the modalities I enjoy using include: Solution Focused Therapy, Mindfulness, sex therapies, Indigenous healing practices, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Play Therapy, and I am often engaging in further learning and training.
Issues that I specialize in are: complex trauma, sex therapy, sexual violence, domestic violence, human trafficking, sex positivity, substance use, depression and anxiety, relationship issues, self-esteem, 2SLGBTQ+, and more.
More About Me
Outside of work, you can find me hanging out with my friends, rock climbing, at a local coffee shop or out for some delicious food. I love going on adventures to find yummy dim sum, great blues and live music clubs, and a delicious pint. I enjoy alone time just as much as being with others, and I do this by practising my mediocre baking skills, getting my hands dirty in my garden, or having tea while listening to music or reading a good book.
Sometimes reaching out for support is the hardest part. If you have been feeling like you are struggling with various life stressors, wanting space to explore and talk; please feel free to reach out to me and we can start this process together. Not sure how to start therapy? No worries, I can support you along the way and we can take it step by step.
